The easiest Easter treat you have to try!

I love chocolate. Maybe a little too much.

I bet that like me, you also have a lot of leftover chocolate you feel like you’re not going to get through until next Easter is upon us. So behold, a cute and very easy way to get rid of your treats that little bit quicker.

This Easter ‘bark’ as its called can be made up of absolutely anything you want it to be. Throw in those big eggs, along with all the little sweet treats you can get your hands on. I used up these small chocolate eggs to make the base of the bark, then threw in a few of my favourite things (as Frauline Maria would say) including Creme Eggs and Malteaster bunnies.

So let’s get straight into what I could say is one of the simplest and most tasty DIY’s ever:

STEP 1:                                                                                                                                               Gather all your ingredients i.e Chocolate, Chocolate and errr…. more chocolate. If you want to be a little bit extra and make it more cuter than it already is, grab some sprinkles like I did! Cover a surface in some baking paper – you can pop it in a baking tray if you’re worried about spillage or like me you can just place it over a chopping board.

STEP 2:                                                                                                                                                    Pop all your chocolate you want to use for the base over a bowl on top of a saucepan filled with a little bit of water. Bring the water up to a boil, then turn the heat down slightly, making sure to continually stir the chocolate while it melts.

STEP 3:                                                                                                                                                       As soon as your chocolate is fully melted, turn off the stove and pour the chocolate onto the baking paper covered surface, and use a pallet knife or something similar to spread out the chocolate equally.

STEP 4:                                                                                                                                                    Now for the fun bit. While the chocolate is still quite warm, go wild with your treats, and decorate the base of your bark as much or as little as you want!

STEP 5:                                                                                                                                                     Once you’re done expressing your creativity, pop it into the fridge for a few hours to harden through fully.

STEP 6:                                                                                                                                                      Then of course, the best bit. Grab your creation out of the fridge and use a knife to chop up the chocolate into small pieces. And walah, enjoy!!

Obviously this is a wonderful DIY to do with all your leftover chocolate and to eat all by yourself, but if you were looking to make your Easter gifts especially personal this year you can make individual barks personalised to your family and friends tastes with all their favourite treats on top! Broken up and put into little bags will make the ultimate Easter gift that no one can resist.

If you decide to try this DIY out please make sure you send me a picture on twitter so I can get some chocolate envy!!

Lots of love,

Zoe xo
